Eric Rosenberg If you are tired of the boring cash and bracelet prizes being offered at the World Series of Poker, perhaps you should hop on a plane to Australia.
The popular men's club, Alley Cat, plays host to National Poker League events on Saturday nights. Weekly winners of the tournament are awarded 30 minutes of pleasure at the Lorraine Starr Brothel.
Australia's Geelong Advertiser is reporting that some of the winners, including a handful of females, have been less than impressed with their prize and have refused acceptance.
The Aussie newspaper goes on to quote some unhappy participants.
``I didn't realise they were supposed to be promoting prostitution when they're meant to be a family-orientated competition,'' one unhappy player spouted. ``I think it's wrong. It's . . . causing grief between wives and husbands and girlfriends and boyfriends.''
Alley Cat manager Fred Scharkosi doesn't see the problem. ``We can offer whatever prizes we like to people and it's up to them whether they want to take the prize,'' he said.
